One suburb, two councils, one creek
Glen Iris is split down the middle by Gardiners Creek. The north side is in the City of Boroondara and the south side is in the City of Stonnington. The Monash Freeway and the Glen Waverley train line both follow the creek, so a lot of Glen Iris traffic is funnelled onto a few crossings and on-ramps.
That shapes the kind of damage we see from Glen Iris:
- Freeway merges and on-ramps. Rear-end bumps and side swipes when traffic bunches up getting on or off the Monash Freeway.
- High Street trams and parking. High Street carries trams and kerbside parking, so mirror strikes, door dings and low-speed bumps are common.
- School and pool traffic. Busy drop-off times around the schools south of High Street, and around the Harold Holt Memorial Swimming Centre on High Street, bring tight parking and car park scrapes.
- Station car parks. Gardiner, Glen Iris and Burwood stations all sit in or beside the suburb, and crowded commuter car parks mean scuffed corners and dented doors.
If your car was hit while parked, take photos of the damage and the street before you move it, and note any witnesses or cameras nearby.
How to get to our Carnegie shop
- From High Street and the Glen Iris station end: head to Burke Road and go south all the way to Dandenong Road. Our shop is at 1064 Dandenong Rd. Look for the illuminated GLOSSWORKS sign.
- From the Tooronga Road side: Tooronga Road south to Dandenong Road also works well.
- From the north side of the creek: cross Gardiners Creek on Burke Road or Tooronga Road and keep heading south.
Outside peak, the drive is around 5 minutes from much of Glen Iris. It takes longer in school and commuter traffic. There’s on-site parking in our driveway.

What happens when you arrive
- Quote under the halo light. You drive into our driveway quoting bay, under a square halo of LED light. The even light shows up dents, scratches and paint damage that are easy to miss outdoors, and we take the photos your insurer needs.
- A clear written quote. Every part and every step is listed. No work starts until you, or your insurer, approve it.
- Repair and paint. Panel work, then paint matched and blended into the panels next to the repair.
- Handover. You collect your car from our presentation bay, with its black spiked feature wall, and check the finish with us.
Walk-ins are welcome, but booking is recommended so we can see you straight away. We’re open Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm.
