About driving in Camberwell
Camberwell is in the City of Boroondara. It runs from Burke Road in the west to Warrigal Road in the east, and from Riversdale Road in the north down to Toorak Road in the south.
The busiest spot is Camberwell Junction, where three tram routes meet. Trams on routes 70, 72 and 75 run through the suburb, and the Burke Road shopping strip runs north of the Junction. Add buses, delivery vans and shoppers pulling in and out of kerbside parks, and you get plenty of low-speed bumps, side swipes and knocked mirrors.
A few other things we hear about from Camberwell drivers:
- Market car park knocks. The Camberwell Fresh Food Market has been trading since 1929, and the Camberwell Sunday Market is held in the car park. Busy car parks mean scraped bumpers, dented doors and reversing bumps.
- Station traffic. Camberwell, East Camberwell and Riversdale stations bring commuter traffic and busy drop-offs. The Alamein, Belgrave and Lilydale lines all run through the suburb.
- Tram tracks in the wet. Steel tram rails get slippery in the rain. Take care braking near the tracks on Burke Road and Riversdale Road.
Your Burke Road route
- Start on Burke Road. From the Junction, the station or anywhere in the west of the suburb, get onto Burke Road heading south.
- Keep heading south. Burke Road takes you through Glen Iris and over the Monash Freeway.
- Reach Dandenong Road. Our shop is at 1064 Dandenong Rd, Carnegie. Look for the illuminated GLOSSWORKS sign and pull into our driveway.
From the Riversdale Road side, come down Trafalgar Road and Seymour Grove to Burke Road. From the Warrigal Road side, Warrigal Road south is another option.

What happens at our Carnegie shop
You drive into our driveway quoting bay, under a square halo of LED light. The even light shows up every dent and scratch, and we photograph the damage for your quote and for your insurer. You get a clear written quote, and no work starts until you, or your insurer, approve it. After the repair and paint, you check the finish with us in our presentation bay.
Every repair comes with our Lifetime Guarantee on paint and workmanship for as long as you own your car.
European, prestige and everything else
We’re authorised by BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi and Porsche, and we repair to each maker’s methods with genuine parts where your claim allows. See prestige smash repairs and genuine parts for European cars.
For Teslas, we’re authorised by Tesla to buy genuine Tesla parts, and we repair to Tesla’s methods. See EV and Tesla smash repairs.
Our Carnegie shop has a dedicated aluminium repair bay with its own tools for cars with aluminium panels: aluminium car body repairs.
We repair all makes and models, so the family wagon or the work ute is welcome too.
Insurance, explained simply
We work with all major insurers. Here’s what you pay:
- If another driver caused the crash: your repair costs you $0. See not-at-fault accident repairs.
- If you claim on your own policy: you pay only your insurer’s excess.
