Driving around Parkdale
Parkdale is a beachside suburb on the Frankston line. The beach is only about 750 metres from the station, so a lot of local driving is short trips between home, the shops, the station and the water. Here’s where we see damage come from.
Beach Road
Beach Road runs along the bay, with cyclists, buses and beach traffic all sharing it. The 903 bus passes through Parkdale along Beach Road. The new station and rail bridge
The level crossings at Warrigal Road and Parkers Road have been removed, with the railway now on a bridge over the roads. The new Parkdale station opened in August 2024, and the works were finished in 2025. New layouts and new car parks take time to get used to, and that’s when low-speed bumps can happen.
Parkers Road and the shops
Kingston Library is on Parkers Road, right next to Parkdale station, along with the local shops. Busy kerbside parking and commuter traffic mean door dings, mirror strikes and scraped bumpers.
School runs
Parkdale Primary School, Parktone Primary School, St John Vianney’s Primary School and Parkdale Secondary College all bring busy morning and afternoon traffic.
